Camden Physiotherapy and Osteopathy
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy can help to treat all manner of joint, muscle, spinal and nerve disorders.
These may relate to post-operative care, sports injuries, neck and back pain and work related injury to name but a few. The initial session consists of a full assessment of the problem, to enable a diagnosis and to develop a treatment plan. Treatment usually
commences within this session.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is the body of medicine that originally used strictly manipulative techniques
to correct somatic abnormalities believed to cause disease and inhibit recovery.
Over the past decade, it has also embraced soft tissue techniques.
Can help: neck and back pain, stiff joints, posture asymmetry
Cranial Osteopathy
The cranial style of Osteopathy is a very gentle, safe and effective
treatment and is suitable for babies and children as well as adults. Specific
mild pressure is applied
by the osteopath to support the inherent healing ability of the body,
helping
to release stresses and imbalances.
Can help: Crying babies, feeding problems, colic, sleep problems
Camden Massage therapy
Holistic massage
Massage is one of the oldest and simplest form of medical treatment. It uses therapeutic touch to manipulate and relax the muscles and sot tissues of the body, relieving tension and bringing the body into a relaxed state. Based on
a Swedish system, it treats the 'whole' person rather than isolated symptoms.
Can help: General aches and pains, relieve tension, reduce anxiety, promote sleep, aid relaxation.
Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage is commonly used to help those actively involved in
sports but is suitable for everyone. It
is more orientated towards therapeutic treatment than pure relaxation. It focuses on
areas that are particularly tight relative to the rest of the body. It may
involve myofascial and trigger point release.
Can help: Deep tension, trigger points, chronic conditions
Sports massage
A deep tissue massage aimed at improving circulation, eliminating the build up of lactic acids and preventing accumulated stiffness from training or working repetitively.
Some people choose to have a sports massage regularly to reduce the effect of
regular training or problems relating to working positions. Others have it to reduce an acute
tightness from time to time.
Can help: Muscle recovery, injury prevention
Aromatherapy
A form of massage based on the use of essential oils. These are derived from the flowers, bark, branches, rind or roots of plants with purported healing properties. The choice of oils will differ with each massage, as they are blended each time to the individual's needs.
(Add £5 to normal massage prices)
Can help: Relaxation, stress, insomnia, emotional problems.
Reflexology
Reflexology involves applying pressure to feet and hands. The therapeutic needs
are assessed on the basis of zones and reflexes. It is used for the relief of tension in the feet and corresponding areas.
Can help: A whole range of conditions in all areas of the body. Particularly relaxing after that stressful day.
Indian Head Massage (IHM)
IHM is a deeply relaxing treatment which includes massage of the upper back,
neck, head and face. It is performed fully clothed in a seated position. Oils
can be used if required.
Can help: Neck tension, shoulder strain, headaches, insomnia, eye strain
All massage therapies can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes.
If it is your first visit to the clinic, we recommend at least 45 minutes.
Each type can be gentle, medium or firm pressure. Please state your requirements when you
arrive.
If you are unsure which type of massage would suit you, the massage therapist
will guide you.
